n2s is delighted to release a new video showcasing our vital role in supporting BT’s transformative BT Exchange Clearance Operation (ECO) programme. This flagship sustainability initiative demonstrates BT’s leadership in achieving circularity across its operations, and we’re proud to be a key partner in delivering its success.
The BT ECO programme focuses on recovering, recycling, and repurposing retired legacy equipment from telephone exchanges across the UK. By giving materials like copper a second life, BT is tackling e-waste and embedding sustainable practices into its core operations.
As a longstanding partner of BT for over 10 years, n2s plays a pivotal role in the programme, providing expertise and hands-on support to ensure its objectives are met. In FY 2023-24, the BT ECO programme resulted in the recycling over 600 tonnes of copper—equivalent to the weight of 100 African elephants—a testament to the significant impact of this initiative.
Our contribution extends beyond recycling; we help BT unlock value from recovered materials while promoting a circular economy. By working closely with BT, n2s ensures that sustainability goals are not only achieved but also deliver tangible benefits to the planet and the economy.
“This video highlights the passionate efforts of the dedicated teams at both BT and n2s, whose collaboration underpins the success of the BT ECO programme. In particular, we would like to extend our thanks to those who featured in this video, including from BT: Mike Attwell, BT ECO Programme Manager; Peter Bell, BT MD Fixed Network; and Dede Tavares, BT Strategic Programme Lead, Network Sustainability.” Vince Di Ponio
