Data Centre Decommissioning

Retire your data centre equipment with a secure, sustainable and planned removal maximising your value return

Data Centre Decommissioning

With over 20 years of experience in expertly managing the secure decommissioning of UK data centres, we take a proactive role in meticulously planning and executing the removal of redundant and legacy data centre equipment, encompassing servers, switches, PSUs and cabling. Our team of skilled engineers provide logistics support, on-site and off-site data destruction, server de-racking, removal of empty racks and cabling, as well as remarketing and maximising value return.

The Process

When managing data centre decommissioning projects we ensure smooth execution with detailed project planning and site audits. We take care of all aspects of the process, from rack decommissioning, cage cleanouts, inventory reconciliation and data destruction to equipment resale and responsible recycling. Our comprehensive service encompasses the removal of all racked equipment, cabinets and cables, as well as the decommissioning of servers and asset list reconciliation.

Ensuring data security is our priority, which is why we offer a range of on and off-site data security solutions including data cleansing, data sanitisation and physical destruction of HDDs, SSDs and tapes. We use NCSC-approved data erasure methods to securely remove data from devices adhering to government regulations and GDPR. Any equipment that ‘fails’ data sanitisation, or is beyond economic repair, can be physically shredded up to 6mm ensuring the data can never be recovered.

When processing end-of-life equipment we prioritise the most sustainable methods, focusing on reuse, resale and recycling. For devices that cannot be reused or are beyond economic repair, we employ sustainable recycling processes and abide by a zero-to-landfill policy.

Assured responsible recycling of obsolete equipment and e-waste, promoting the circular economy.
Project management support and field resources for seamless execution.

The Circular Ecomomy

Recognising the environmental impact of data centres as significant greenhouse gas emitters, we are dedicated to actively minimising their footprint during decommissioning.

Embracing the principles of a circular economy, we promote the reuse of products, components and the efficient recycling of scarce resources. During data centre decommissioning, we prioritise giving reusable equipment a second life and are committed to zero landfill principles. At the end of each project, we provide our clients with environmental impact reports, to evidence their progress towards sustainability.
